Our good friends at ToughPigs are celebrating the week before Sesame Street's 40th Anniversary by magically going back in time using a DVD player and watching all of the past Sesame Street anniversary TV specials. Yesterday they watched and commented on A Walking Tour of Sesame Street and today they've enjoyed Sesame Street: 20 and Still Counting. Keep checking back at ToughPigs all this week for more adults making hilariously snarky comments about a 40 year old kid's show! (And really, isn't that what the week before Sesame Street's 40th Anniversary is all about?)
Don't forget, today Fraggle Rock: The Complete Final Season, Fraggle Rock: The Complete Series, and A Merry Fraggle Holiday are all being released on DVD today. If you're looking to buy me a Christmas present, The Complete Final Season is most definitely on my list.
Muppet Wiki has the listing of clips being used on the brand new "Sesame Street: 40 Years of Sunny Days" DVD set. The sheer amount of clips from every season of the show is simply astounding. This includes the first release of "Just Because" (Big Bird and the cast mourn Mr. Hooper), "Maria and Luis Get Married," "Snuffy is Seen," and "Meet the Baby" (Gabriella is born) on DVD. This set is truly a Sesame Street fan's dream come true. It will be released on November 10th wherever DVDs are sold, or you can find it at Amazon.com.
SesameStreet.org has once again opened up the voting for a new decade of Sesame Street magic. This week: the 80's. This week presents voters with their most difficult decisions yet. There are so many admirable clips presented here that it's nearly impossible to choose one that is "the best." I would not be surprised if the Greatest Sesame Street Clip of All-Time was chosen from this decade. Highlights include "Born to Add," "One Fine Face," "Fuzzy and Blue," "I Don't Want to Live on the Moon," "Do De Rubber Duck," Kermit News: Old Macdonald, "Put Down the Duckie," Kermit's Mystery Box, and so many, many more wonderful clips. Good luck picking one... you're gonna need it. Be sure to view the voting results and keep an eye on your candidate's status!
