THE MUPPETS
Re-Releases of The Muppet Movie, The Great Muppet Caper, and The Muppet Christmas Carol on DVD with new Muppet Whatnot magnets ($14.99) (Magnet sets only available in stores)
Yes, those wacky Muppets have been re-released on DVD, but this time you're enticed to buy the DVDs because of a different magnet set included in each one. The magnet sets advertise FAO's Muppet Whatnot Workshop by including Kermit, Fozzie, and Gonzo (respectively) with a Muppet Whatnot and clothes to dress them up in. If you don't have these films on DVD or if you just have a really empty refrigerator door, these DVDs and magnets are for you!
A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa on DVD ($15.99 at Amazon)
Don't you just love the holidays? And I know you love The Muppets, so why not combine the two loves by buying this fantastic Muppet holiday special? The DVD includes a few brief deleted scenes and cast interviews, so special features are indeed lacking; but the quality of the special more than makes up for it. As Pepe would say, "But this DVD, hokay!"
A Muppet Whatnot from FAO Schwarz ($129.99 at FAO.com)
Are you looking for a truly personal gift for the Muppet lover in your family? Then a Muppet Whatnot is the best thing you could possibly buy them. On FAO's website, your loved one can customize and create their very own Muppet Whatnot puppet to love and enjoy. Also, if you buy a Whatnot via the link at the top and bottom of The Muppet Mindset's homepage, you're contributing back to the site! So... thank you in advance.
Muppet Comic Books (varied prices)
Is the Muppet lover on your shopping list also a comic book lover? Well, you're in luck! Thanks to BOOM! Studios, there are tons of Muppety options out there for you to buy. Perhaps they would enjoy "Meet the Muppets," the collection of the first four issues of The Muppet Show Comic Book by Roger Langridge? Or maybe they're more into heroics and hideous art--then you're looking for any of the four issues of Muppet Robin Hood by Tim Beedle and Armand Villavert, Jr. If they want fairy tales with good art (and writing!), then check out Muppet Peter Pan (3/4 issues have been released).
SESAME STREET
Sesame Street: A Celebration - 40 Years of Life on the Street Book by Louise Gikow ($40.00 in stores) ($21.60 at Amazon)
There isn't much to say about this book that I didn't already say in our review of it, but if you're shopping for something for a Sesame Street fan, this book has everything. Glorious photographs, unprecedented behind the scenes pictures, stories, and interviews, along with so much more. I highly, highly recommend putting this on your Christmas list and then buying a copy for everyone you know who owns a coffee table. (Trust me, they'll thank you.)
Sesame Street: 40 Years of Sunny Days 2-Disc DVD Set ($30.00 in store) ($23.49 at Amazon)
Much like the book, this DVD set is a must-own for any fan of Sesame Street. Featuring clips and sketches from each of Sesame Street's 40 seasons, this DVD is jam-packed with sunny days and laughs. Each disc is also bursting with amazing behind the scenes bonus features.
Sesame Street Google Doodle T-Shirt (free with purchase of $50.00 or more at store.sesamestreet.org)
Remember when Sesame Street took over Google? Well, do you also remember that SesameStreet.org was giving away t-shirts of the Google Doodles with a purchase of something from their 40th Anniversary collection? Well, now you get any of the Google Doodle t-shirts you want for free when spend $50.00 or more in the Sesame Street store. Might I recommend just picking up the book and the DVD set bundle here? Remember, you'll be giving back to the education of children all over the world!
Sesame Street Collect-a-Pal Toys ($2.99 at Target and Wal-Mart) (only available in-store)
I know what you're thinking... "Is he really praising the glory of those tiny little plastic things again?" Well... yes, yes I am. These toys make GREAT stocking stuffers for you or anyone who loves Sesame Street. They're just fun to have around. Might I recommend The Count, Snuffy, or Grover?
FRAGGLE ROCK
Fraggle Rock: The Complete Final Season DVD Set ($24.99 in stores) ($23.49 at Amazon)
Finally, Lionsgate Entertainment released the final season of Fraggle Rock on a 5-Disc DVD set. You can now watch Gobo, Mokey, Wembley, Boober, and, of course Red as they romp through the Rock and work their way to the final episodes of the series. The concluding episodes are some of the best pieces of Henson television anywhere, so be sure to check this out!
Fraggle Rock: The Complete Series DVD Set Re-Release ($79.99 in stores) ($71.49 at Amazon)
Don't feel like just buying one season? Then buy them all! Every episode of Fraggle Rock is available in this 20-Disc set full of mounds of Fraggley goodness. Unfortunately, it doesn't come with any of the physical extras that the separate seasons sets included (Jim Henson's notebook, the pitch book, Michael Frith pictures), but hey, it's cheaper than going out and buying all four seasons separately!
A Merry Fraggle Holiday DVD ($9.99 in stores) ($11.49 at Amazon)
Or, if you just want to give someone on your list a little Fraggley goodness for the holidays and leave it at that, might I suggest the new "A Merry Fraggle Holiday" DVD? It offers three sort-of, could be considered holiday episodes of the show--and it's only ten dollars!
So there you have it! Some great Muppet stuff for everyone in your family! I'm sure grandma would just love the Collect-a-Pals--and you KNOW Uncle Kevin will eat up The Treasure of Peg Leg Wilson. And, if your family won't love these things... well, you know you will! So put 'em on your list! You're missing out if you don't!
